Quick Hits: Outfolded

I don’t play a lot of mobile games and, when I do, I don’t usually spend a ton of time on them. But every once in awhile one gets its hooks into me and I have a hard time putting it down. I have yet to actually pay for one and I make a point NOT to make in-app purchases – mostly based on principle, but that’s a whole other rant. Since I don’t spend a lot of time playing mobile games, and certainly don’t play all the way through most of them, I didn’t want to dedicate entire reviews to them. But I do still want to shine a little light on the ones that I think are good. Thus Quick Hits.

First up, Outfolded…

Have you ever made three dimensional shapes out of paper? Or slowly rolled a 12-sided die so that every side touched the table only once? Have you ever seen Tetris?

If any of that sounds intriguing, then this may be a game for you. If not, it might still be the game for you, as it is fun, challenging, and a little bit addictive.

Outfolded is a puzzle game in which you have to cover squares in a grid between point A and point B. Sounds fun, doesn’t it!? Okay, okay, it’s more than that but, at its core, that’s what it is.

The idea is to take tetris-like shapes and “fold” them along each of their sides in order to cover a grid to get to your goal.

The puzzles and shapes start pretty simple which gives the early levels the purpose of getting you accustomed to how the game works. It’s fairly intuitive and quick to pick up. If you DO get stuck, you get a handful of hints to begin the game, as well as opportunities to earn more as you go.

It’s quick, fun, addictive, and completely worth picking up its current price point – free!
